Hello everyone!

I'm Carlos Shanka from the Canary Islands, Spain :)

I'll be joining the Development Studies MA at Sussex University/IDS and am looking forward to finding a cool place with nice young people to spend a year sharing nice conversations, experiences, thoughts, and Canarian gofio (it's a dish no panic).

A bit about me:
I am passionate about the Canary Islands and global issues (hence I'm doing a masters), specially climate change and migration. I'm half Senegalese and studied biology (not best choice) at Bristol Uni (the best decision of my life). I also love travelling and have been to over 20 countries, usually backpacking or to climate/environmental conferences. Top countries include Tanzania, Nicaragua, and Turkey.

My hobbies include joining cultural events and meeting people from other countries, learning languages (it would be amazing to exchange), running (I might join football after being away for years) - doing - sports like windsurf/kitesurf, running, and football, and, above all, immersing myself in development studies. I haven't been going partying as much lately, but I do exceptions. Oh, and I've been getting more into the film world, so film nights are definitely one on the list.

What I am looking for:
At this point, almost anything, provided that it's a place fairly close to uni and the city, and can have good company :)

Ideally, a place to share with a couple of postgraduate students (e. g. 3-6). I have no priorities or exceptions with gender, nationality, or beliefs whatsoever. I don't smoke but I'm not expecting that you won't. I don't eat meat and like to share some of what I cook.
