We're Robert, Lily and Mimi, seeking people to join us on the house-sharing adventure! We're looking to make the most of living together, making the house a warm and inviting place, having friends round and guests staying from time to time. And the occasional party...

US:

Robert (he/him) is a left-wing environmentalist neurodivergent queer vegan geek. He has been taking a career break from IT work, passionate about domestic energy consumption and how people inhabit spaces. Likes electronic dance music of various genres, sharing vegan food, yoga, and keeps trying to get into running. Not a heavy drinker but enjoys a glass of wine from time to time. A night owl who will happily chat until the early hours about the meaning of life and suchlike!

Lily (she/they) is a dance artist and performer so always grooving round the place. A queer, neurospicy, friendly little cat. Loves chocolate and cakes, always up for a chinwag and a cuppa. Sometimes a bit forgetful but always loving. Movies and fires are their jam, silliness and seriousness combined. Will be leaving for Austria in June.

Mimi (she/they) is an artist who has been based in Manchester for a number of years and puts on regular exhibitions at Antwerp Mansion. Mimi is also a queer, neurospicy vegan and enjoys silly little nights out but also chill movie nights in. She is also super into swimming and always looking for more people to go with!

YOU:

We don't have any fixed ideas of what our new housemates will be in terms of age/gender, work or interests, although if these things align that's obviously a bonus. But we are hoping home is important to you and you're looking for somewhere to nest, willing to share in order to be part of something. You value relationships and are prepared to put effort into connecting and communicating when things don't just 'click'. You have a good work-life balance, sustaining yourself financially without it consuming all your time and identity, and have enough left in your social battery after work and any other outside activities, so you don't spend most of your time at home in your room recharging.

Is some of this what you aspire to, but you're up for the challenge? Don't worry, it's ongoing work for us too!

THE HOUSE:

It's the ideal house for shared living, in many ways: all the rooms are generously proportioned and there are several communal spaces. There's a piano in the front room and the basement was previously used as a recording studio. Over the years there have been many dinner parties, film nights, barbecues, music sessions etc, and hopefully you will want to be involved in that in the future.

The house has a homely appeal, due to the many previous housemates that have lived here over the years making their mark on the place. Hopefully this kind of atmosphere will be valuable to you - and you will have the opportunity to contribute something to the house too.

We keep a meat-free kitchen, although that doesn't preclude people eating whatever they want outside the house or even getting a cheeky takeaway. We operate on the basis that food and other household things are shared, bought using a kitty. Of course, such things depend on agreement between the particular combination of people living here at the time. But if this sounds strange to you, we've found it to work and are happy to talk about it.
